New Yogalates Classes at Halo

01 Aug New Yogalates Classes at Halo

Physiotherapist, Jo Buckley introduces her new Yogalates classes, which will be available at Halo from this September

Having taught Pilates for several years, I felt I wanted and needed something more to add to my own classes.

I’ve always been interested in Yoga and its philosophy, so when the Australian Physiotherapy and Pilates Institute advertised a ‘Therapeutic Yoga’ course for health professionals I signed myself up for it straight away!

This was a 4 day course based in London covering level 1 and level 2 therapeutic Yoga techniques, which is mainly based around the Hatha style of Yoga. The course covered various movements and techniques from the ancient tradition of yoga that are seen to support the growing demands of modern life – concentrating on using movements to increase ones own self-awareness, as well as rehabilitating the body in a safe and effective way and looking at stress reduction for the mind.

Having been really taken with the course, I’m now super excited to integrate what I learnt into my classes!

So from September, I will be launching new combined Yoga and Pilates classes called Yogalates.

My new Yogalates classes will run from 7-8pm and 8.15-9.15pm every Monday

During the classes we’ll look to use the Yoga moves alongside my Pilates exercises and feel this may take on more standing and hands/knees poses. The moves will look to open the body whilst strengthening, incorporating balance and adding flexibility. I also intend to end each session with some mindfulness meditation/relaxation exercises, calming the mind and the central nervous system.

The classes will be aimed at those who have done some exercise in the past, and who are keen to challenge themselves further and enjoy an hour of powerful practice for their bodies.

If you are interested in joining me at these new Yogalates classes then please call us on 01926 257 255 or email info@halophysio.co.uk to find out more.

I very much look forward to taking you on a new and exciting journey.

Jo
