We’re excited to announce Gemma Joiner, Senior Physiotherapist, Women’s Health Specialist & Pilates Instructor is joining Halo! Gemma will be joining us in January and will be leading our Women’s Health Physiotherapy service.

Gemma graduated from Sheffield Hallam University with a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy degree in 2009.

Since then, she has gained vast experience working in the NHS and private sector in a variety of settings including multidisciplinary rehabilitation units, musculoskeletal clinics, and sports working with several Rugby Union and Rugby Sevens teams. Gemma also spent a year working in New Zealand and gained overseas experience working at a Private Physiotherapy and Pilates clinic.

Gemma has a broad spectrum of skills across the three core areas of Physiotherapy (musculoskeletal, neurology and respiratory), which enables her to have a very holistic approach. She has also completed post graduate training in Manual Therapy, Myofascial Release, Acupuncture, Cancer Rehabilitation, Pilates, Therapeutic Yoga, and more.

Gemma specialises in and is truly passionate about pelvic health (Women’s Health Physiotherapy) and has a special interest in ante/post-natal rehabilitation. Gemma has worked in this specialist area of Physiotherapy for over 5 years in the NHS and private sectors.

Gemma is passionate about sport and exercise. This passion was the catalyst for her career in Physiotherapy, whilst a keen interest in exercise therapy also led Gemma to Pilates where she has presented courses for other professionals as well as teaching APPI mat and equipment Pilates.

Gemma has completed therapeutic yoga training too and considers pilates and yoga movement important for the physical and mental wellbeing of us all.

Gemma takes part in many sports and outdoor activities and highlights her biggest achievements as completing Ironman UK, qualifying to represent GB at the 2020 ITU Triathlon Championships, becoming an Advanced Open Water PADI diver and rehabilitating herself back to sport after having a baby in 2020.
