Halo Physiotherapy offers a number of First Aid at Work courses to suit your needs and these will give you the necessary skills and confidence to be an effective first aider in your work place. Many of these courses are Ofqual regulated Level 3 courses, and all are recognised by First Aid Awards Ltd (FAA), Nuco Training Ltd and will be taught by Paul Godfrey.
Paul is one of our highly qualified Musculoskeletal Physiotherapists, who is also a certified First Aid at Work Instructor. Paul has over 33 years of extensive experience of working in private practice and in elite sport with individuals and teams in such sports as professional football, Cirque du Soleil, UK Athletics, and The UK Sports Institute (UKSI). This hands-on training course will give you the confidence to act fast in an emergency.
Our courses are an intimate experience with small participant numbers ensuring appropriate supervision from your instructor. We do not need large participant numbers to run our courses.
Our courses cover all essential First Aid skills, including:
Primary Survey & Recovery Position – Learn to quickly assess a situation and understand how to position someone safely.
CPR & Defibrillator (AED) Use – Gain knowledge on how to perform CPR effectively and operate an Automated External Defibrillator in cardiac arrest scenarios.
Choking & Airway Management – Understand the steps to take when someone is unable to breathe, including techniques to clear the airway.
Major Bleeding & Shock Treatment – Learn to recognise and manage life-threatening injuries, focusing on controlling bleeding and treating shock.
Seizures, Fainting & Unconsciousness – Equip yourself with the emergency care protocols needed for individuals experiencing these critical conditions.
First Aid Kit Essentials & Workplace Safety – Familiarise yourself with the necessary components of a first aid kit and the safety protocols to follow in workplace settings.
These courses are regulated by a certified instructor allowing the attendees to be assessed and examined to ensure their knowledge is at the required level before a recognised certificate can be awarded. Certification is compliant with the Health & Safety regulations (First Aid 1981) and (Northern Ireland 1982) recognised by Ofqual, FAA and Nuco training Ltd. Our First Aid at Work courses are also delivered and assessed in accordance with current Resuscitation Council UK Guidelines.

Meet Paul Godfrey
Paul leads our sports medicine development at Halo Physiotherapy.
With extensive experience across multiple sectors, Paul has worked in the NHS, private practice, and, for the past fifteen years, within elite sports and performance environments. His career includes roles at the English Institute for Sport (EIS), UK Athletics, Cirque du Soleil, West End productions, and six professional football clubs across all four English divisions — serving as Head of Medical Services in five of them.
Paul holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Advanced Spinal & Peripheral Manipulative Therapy from Curtin University, Western Australia, and a Master of Science in Human and Applied Physiology from King’s College London. Additionally, he is a member of the Musculoskeletal Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (MACP) and the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sport and Exercise Medicine (ACPSEM – Gold level accredited). He is also a registered Acupuncturist with the Acupuncture Association of Chartered Physiotherapists (AACP).
Beyond his physiotherapy expertise, Paul is a certified First Aid at Work Instructor and delivers Ofqual-regulated Level 3 First Aid at Work courses, recognised by First Aid Awards Ltd (FAA). Regulated courses, led by a certified instructor, ensures that attendees are assessed and examined to meet the required knowledge standards before receiving a recognised certificate. Certification complies with Health & Safety regulations (First Aid 1981 and Northern Ireland 1982) and is accredited by Ofqual, FAA, and Nuco Training Ltd.
