What Would You Do With Unlimited Amounts Of Energy?

06 Nov What Would You Do With Unlimited Amounts Of Energy?

Eat Great…Feel Great!

If you had unlimited amounts of energy…what would you do with it?

As a dietitian/nutritionist, many of my clients tell me they want more energy, but I find it more helpful (and motivating) to focus on what that extra energy would allow them to do. Take a moment to imagine what it would be like to leap out of bed, excited and energised to start your day. How is that day different to what you are experiencing right now?

When people come to see me, they usually aren’t feeling very energetic. In fact, the term many of my clients use to describe how they are feeling when they first come to see me is…’fed up’. Fed up with being exhausted all of the time.  Fed up with carrying extra weight that their body doesn’t need. Fed up with trying to eat ‘healthier’ only to be so confused by the wealth of conflicting information on the internet that they just sit at home one day and eat an entire box of chocolate.

Your health and energy levels affect every single aspect of your life. How you show up for your job, your family and your social activities, really boils down to how well you take care of yourself. If you are fuelling your body with biscuits and tea because you are too busy to eat nutritious food, that will start chipping away at your energy levels, your motivation and your health. Life starts to feel a whole lot harder than it needs to be when you are deficient in one or more nutrients. So if you are sitting at home in the evenings watching the TV not because you want to, but because you just don’t have the energy to do anything else, maybe its time to address this. Or if, when you wake up in the morning, you start counting down the number of hours until you get to go to bed again….that too may be a sign that something in your life needs to change.

Many of my clients believe they should be able to sort themselves out and fix their own eating habits. But the science of nutrition is constantly changing and information that was correct even 2-3 years ago may not be correct now.  Sometimes just one or two sessions with a qualified dietitian/nutritionist is all that it takes to get you pointed in the right direction so that you start seeing results. Once you start feeling better, and looking better… suddenly an entire world opens up to you with infinite possibilities.

But don’t take my word for it. I’m a big advocate of practicing what I preach, so here are some photos of what a healthy lifestyle means to me and what it allows me to do…

Lindy Hop dance classes twice per week

Hiking or kayaking on the weekends

Scuba diving on vacation!

Now it’s your turn! I want to hear your stories. If you had unlimited amounts of energy…what would you do with it?
